First Laserz! blog post...

Hello world. The new Laserz! blog has been born. We have been trying to get our schtuff together and some things are kinda sorta falling into place. We just finished playing our first show with our new lineup at Carousel Lounge with i ok an extremely weird and creative and great project from San Antonio. We also played with Bloody Knives, (formerly Joy Bus) and the Late Joys. All the rowdy 9th street guys showed up because it was Slasher Steve's 33rd birthday. So it made it a fun show. The bartender at Carousel was a dick though and bitched at people for bring some beer to drink outside. C'mon man! not everyone can afford a $3.00 beer. Let some dudes bring their own 12 packs and the ones that can afford to buy their beers at the bar. The bar sales were definitely not hurting thanks to the bands that came. Probably the best night all week for that bartender. After that show, we immediately took off to Bryan/College Station to play at The Stafford for the Great Unwashed Luminaries cd release party. That was really fun and The Stafford had amazing sound and an amazing sound guy. Which, in contrast to the Carousel, where I was way too loud with my new amp, we were perfectly balanced out. Props to the sound guy. Also the other bands were rad. Skullfucker was rad. Nine people in various bands in the community joining together to form an improv "super-group" in the key of D. It was definitely a welcome spectacle. Great Unwashed Luminaries had some sick electronica tunes and the first one, I can't remember the name of it, but he played a cover of Hank Williams Sr. that was an electronic, dancey headtrip. I loved it! It was a good show with minimal obvious fuck-ups. As predicted too, Bryan is a small town and even in progressive open-minded places like The Stafford there are still stupid redneck dumbasses disguised as punkrockers with mohawks who try to pick a fight with anyone who they think "looks a little bit gay". I personally like mohawks. My older brother had one 18" tall back in the days of DRI, and The Exploited. It's just rednecks in disguise who sport the mohawks and think they are tuff and try to start a fight because they "think yer gay" as my pregnant wife is standing there that chap my hide. Well, you can't keep the ignorant ones away when something good is going in. That, my friends was an Aaron Tippin moment. Well, keep up your hard work of creating creative weird goodness in Bryan, TX. Keep the good sounds coming out of there. Anyway, just so you know a little bit about us. We are four guys from Austin, TX. Steve on the drums. Billy on the guitar. Todd on the keys and guitar and vocals. John on the turntables and keys and vocals. We started out as three people and lost a drummer and gained a new drummer and a guitarist. Todd and I have our heads in the clouds creating shit that many times sounds like pure electro-clash, synth-pop noise. Billy and Steve keep the beat going and keep it grounded with rock/metal sounds. 979represent.com described us as: "Austin bizarro lo-fi slacker synth indie pop band". We are busting our ass to try to get a cd released before we said it would come out. We have our asses against the wall because we have a cd release party coming up at 1/29 at the Rockin' Tomato on S. Lamar in Austin, TX. Come out to see us and get a cd and drink your face off and gorge on good pizza that evening... Anyway... this is good enough for the first post. I'll be posting up video and music soon...
